SinoHytec is deepening the strategic cooperation with Foton to draw a new era of hydrogen vehicles
On November 16th, the Foton Smart-Blue New Energy 2025 Strategy Press Conference was held in Beijing with the theme of “Opening the Smart-Blue New Energy Area to Safeguard the Blue Sky”. Beijing SinoHytec Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as SinoHytec) signed an agreement with Foton Motor Goup (hereinafter referred to as Foton). Depending on their respective advantages, both parties will jointly promote the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles for commercial uses. Zhang Guoqiang, the chairman of SinoHytec, and Gong Yueqiong, the secretary of the party committee and the general manager of Foton, signed the agreement of strategic cooperation on behalf of both parties.
Zhang Xiyong, the general manager of BAIC Group and the chairman of Foton, said that the three technical routes of electric, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will be supported by the company. Hydrogen fuel cell technology will be applied to heavy-duty trucks and buses. SinoHytec and Foton have been cooperating in the field of logistics vehicles for a long time. The two parties jointly developed China's first hydrogen fuel cell logistics vehicle. At present, the vehicles have been put into trial operation in Beijing, Zhangjiakou and other places, and will be widely used in Jingdong, Rookie and other major logistics companies in the future. At the just concluded Jingdong 2019 Global Intelligent Logistics Summit, one of the vehicles was shown to the public, and its performance was appreciated and recognized by Jingdong Logistics and other participants.
In addition to logistics vehicles, SinoHytec also cooperated with BAIC Group in hydrogen fuel cell buses and cars. The two sides jointly undertook research and development of many major fuel cell projects in the national key R&D plans, and overcame several technical difficulties such as the hydrogen-electric-thermal integrated energy efficient management of the hydrogen fuel cell engine system, the system control in complex and changing working conditions, and the low-temperature startup. Durability, economy and environmental adaptability of hydrogen fuel cell buses have been greatly improved. At present, the models of the cooperation of the two sides are operating in Beijing, Zhangjiakou and other regions.
As Ouyang Minggao, the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, said at the second “Great Wall World Renewable Energy Forum", the breakthrough models for entering the market for fuel cell technology are heavy trucks, logistics vehicles, and public transportation buses. SinoHytec and Foton will deepen their strategic cooperation in the above-mentioned fields, and jointly develop heavy trucks of 35 tons and 49 tons to help Foton build a comprehensive product matrix of new energy commercial vehicles, expand the application scenarios of hydrogen vehicles, and drive the development of hydrogen energy industry.
